Hypothetical situation: An ISS astronaut is doing his/her 6 month stint aboard the space station. If that astronaut has some type of personal tragedy at home (medical emergency/sickness/death of a loved one, etc.) is there anything in the rule book that would allow them to abort ...

I was wonder if Nasa packs extra food on board in case the crew has to stay on orbit longer than expected, like on this mission.

That's a great shot (supposedly over the Florida panhandle), of Christer translating around the base of the spar with Beamer up on the end of the arm. The half-furled array is the upper 2/3 of the picture, and white gear (arm and spar) contrast nicely with the black of space.

Looking good so far. No issues being looked at. Count resumed at T-9 with no indication of a hold at t-5. BTW, NASA TV on real-video is 20 seconds late. (I guess delays caused by compression and decompression algorythms + transmission times).

Just a thought or two on the projected Moon Base. Pictures that I have seen so far are square or round objects on the surface, and wondered if these are realistic views of the base. Only the first thing that springs to mind is the vulnerabilty to meteor

Keeping ISS alive and thereby worth doing something constructive is exactly what should happen. However, instead of pushing it into the somewhat lethal and otherwise interactively pesky moon L2 zone that's a little extra IR/FIR toasty
