I was wondering of anyone could give me a quick summary of how the ISS
communicates with Earth.
I know it has a Ku-Band and an S-band. What do each do? While trying to
research this, I read that video feeds use the Ku-band when it was

My idea is simple.  Tie the doomed unit to the Shuttle with a 1/4 inch
nylon rope and tow it down into the atmosphere during normal Shuttle
re-entry.  At some point the rope will burn up and free the unit to descend
into oblivion on its own trajectory.

Anyone else catch this on DiscoveryHD yesterday?  It was pretty damn
dissapointing!  The program was 1/2 hour, and the first 10 minutes was the
'anchor' of the show talking about tv from space or something.  Then they hooked
