Solar power from space...29 May 2009 12:56 GMT1
Well, how would they propose to get the power down with a low enough loss
and without heating up the atmosphere in between or frying anything in
between then?

down today?28 May 2009 13:20 GMT22
I'd imagine they will go for the last Edwards opp, as they seem to be intent
on giving a Florida landing as good a go as they can, but the weather still
looks dire to me.

Landing delayed until Sunday24 May 2009 22:33 GMT11
Looks like they get to enjoy another day in space.
Hubble Telescope Release24 May 2009 15:12 GMT3
The other day when Atlantis released Hubble into space, there was talk
of a release "window."  Since Atlantis was in a stable orbit, it seems
they could have released Hubble at any time with the same results, the
Hubble would continue to fly in that same orbit.  I realize the ...

Hubble Repair a Success.....23 May 2009 11:50 GMT2
Looks like the mission was a success despite a couple of bulky bolts.

handrail when a single bolt prevented him from unscrewing it as planned
Two robotic arms in shuttle?23 May 2009 10:10 GMT15
The other day when Megan (and sometimes Scooter) were controlling the
robotic arm to support the astronauts working on Hubble, the arm was on
the starboard side of the shuttle.  The cameras also showed another arm
stowed on the port side.
NASA Orbital Map23 May 2009 00:58 GMT2
On NASA's giant orbital map, there are numerous lines and abbreviations.
SAA stands for South Atlantic Anomaly or the high radiation area.
I'm guessing the two large areas marked by lines stretching almost to
the poles are TDRS coverage areas, is this correct?   It seems to
Mission Control for Two Shuttles?22 May 2009 05:35 GMT1
It now looks like STS-400 has been scrubbed and Endeavour will not be
needed to rescue Atlantis.  That's great news, but how would this have
worked from a mission control standpoint?  Can Houston control and
monitor two shuttles at once?  Are there multiple bands or multipath

Other uses for ET21 May 2009 13:11 GMT7
I know there have been suggestions that the external fuel tanks could
be as building blocks for  space station etc. So the latest Hubble
mission got me thinking. Would it be possible to turn the external
fuel tank into a space telescope? With 8.4 meter diameter it could
HST Reboost21 May 2009 12:57 GMT6
Why not reboost Hubble anyway if propellant permitting?
