Shuttle proves being superb manned spacecraft30 Nov 2007 22:53 GMT129
Marvelous shuttle mission of Discovery! Congratulations!
Overall the shuttle is in IMHO a very effective and successful manned space

Sorry for the OT question, but this has been nagging me for some time.
Hubble is in orbit around the earth, and as such, travels at a great
speed as well as constantly changing its direction of travel (nature of
a circular trajectory).
Oh goody they took Luke's lightsabre on this mission.28 Nov 2007 03:24 GMT52
Question:  What is the cost to put a pound in orbit now?  Because I want to
send my one of my flashlights to spend some time in space.  Was Lucas paying
for this?

Attempting some  semi on topic stuff!18 Nov 2007 22:25 GMT2
I listened to the sts 122 briefings etc, and a couple of questions came up
in my mind.
Firstly, if they are going to, look at the Sarj in one of the eva's,
presumably this means they have suspicions and need to see if they are
Challenger's "Blowtorch" -- Vanished!18 Nov 2007 17:00 GMT26

If it was there before the aft band gave way, it should have showed up
Star Trek was all real, NASA chronicles of extraterrestrial meetings18 Nov 2007 00:47 GMT3

The Star Ship Enterprise was purposely designed as a flying saucer, to
make people reason out that "why would a flying saucer be pushed by
two jet engines, it would be more practical to have just a flying
posting question16 Nov 2007 21:17 GMT2
I'm uncertain about where to place a question/debate: here on
s.s.station (whose seems to be the only two sci.space.* NG with
acceptable S/N ratio).
The question is about the viability/usefulness (in scientific terms) of
The end of the world is coming: SKYNET launched !16 Nov 2007 09:18 GMT1
An Arianne 5 rocket has just launched a British military satellite
"SKYNET" into space.
You may all recall that SKYNET is the military system which will take
over the world and launch nuclear missiles to kill humans and deploy
Why can't the OMS engine be used during glide?13 Nov 2007 20:10 GMT7
If for some reason the shuttle would lack sufficient energy to make the
Cape Kennedy runway, could the Shuttle's on-board rocket engines be fired
up momentarily to give it the necessary boost to "stretch the glide?"
It would seem to me they must carry sufficient fuel reserves in ...
Why launching JEM ahead of Kibo13 Nov 2007 18:50 GMT1
Can anyone point out why JEM will be launched ahead of Kibo and had
therefore to be parked temporarily at Harmony.

A few questions about terminology...13 Nov 2007 18:45 GMT13
I was watching the STS-120 landing video, and I heard a call saying
"You are on energy approaching the hack"...
What exactly does this mean? Heading alignment circle?
What does "on energy" mean though.
South Korean astronaut selection process12 Nov 2007 17:37 GMT1
South Korea is rushing to join the space race. But their astronaut
selection process has been slightly different from that of NASA:
They used a televised "reality TV" show to select 1 astronaut out of
thousands who had submitted applications. The "elimitations" were
