US paperwork vs. Russian paperwork31 May 2007 01:31 GMT6
Anybody have any "war stories" on US paperwork vs. Russian paperwork to
build a spaceship.  I left NASA about a year ago and am glad I did.  The
conceptual design phase of Orion/Ares was winding down and all I could see
for the next several years was review after review and each ...
Strategic Weapons on the SS or ISS?29 May 2007 21:06 GMT10
Have any dummy nuclear bombs/missles ever been carried aloft into orbit on
the Space Shuttle or transported to the International Space Station (or any
other space station)?  The theory is if it can be done, it has been done or
will be done.
G-forces and fuel consumption28 May 2007 06:45 GMT6
Assuming one has engines with unlimited thrust and no aerodynamic
issues, and assuming occupants can take any G force:
If, at the time of ignition, the throttles are opened to the max for an
instant acceleration at high G force, would this end up saving fuel ?
That guy astronaut that was the object of that love triangle leaves NASA27 May 2007 17:50 GMT4
I think everyone in this newsgroup had it nailed when they said that
Lisa Novak ended more than just her own astronaut career.  Saw in
today's paper the guy is leaving NASA.
Hard to imagine how he could fly again without the press mentioning this

Re: Plane Grounded After Flying Near Space Shuttle (Central Florida Ne25 May 2007 01:22 GMT4
Since no actual harm was done, the fellow should be given a minimum
punishment for a technical violation, like a 10 day suspension in his
flying privileges.   The charts are just chock full of restricted
airspaces, so it is almost impossible not to violate a few on a
Ethics and young astronauts.24 May 2007 20:02 GMT5
Well, one of the replies on the recent  press event last Thursday was to do
with how does the space environment  affect the natural cycle of women, and
do men get affected at all.
The reply was one I'd not heard before, that the reason why older women fly

RTLS Story18 May 2007 22:01 GMT15
Here is a true story on me training RTLS's as NASA.  I hope you like it.
His name is Curt Brown.  He is one of the most arrogant and difficult to get
along astronauts in the program.  Unfortunately, I didn't know this during
my first training session with him as a student.  The ...
STSOrbit Plus18 May 2007 14:52 GMT1
Anyone got the latest version of STSOrbit Plus. Since the unfortunate demise
of David Ransom the program seems to be hard to find. I've got version
0223. Is there any updated one? I still find STSOrbit Plus to have a a far
better display than any other such program. Thanks,

If the crew engages BFS on ascent, can they still perform a fast sep?  My
memory tells me yes, but I haven't trained this phase of flight for over a
decade.

Orbital night city light visibility16 May 2007 17:27 GMT6
How visible are the lights of cities from orbit at night? Is it something
you'd see with the naked eye without really trying? Same with lightning,
can you see the clouds light up easily? Thanks,
David
