Legality Of Owning a TPS Tile12 Mar 2007 19:04 GMT6
I was wondering what was the legal implications of owning a flown tile
from the shuttle? Not one of the gel packaged ones from the KSC store
but a flown scrapped one? I know columbia and Challenger are out but
there seems to be a few of them out and about for sale.

After this past weekend's damage to the external fuel tank due to
hailstorm, I was wondering why the shuttle sits out on the launch pad
for so long before launch?

Anybody have the recent status of STS-117?  Can the tank be repaired?  Can
NASA still fly in late April?  Any damage to the leading edge of the wings?
I just checked www.nasa.gov, but didn't see much information.

According  to a former NASA employee Otto Binder, unnamed
radio hams with their own VHF receiving facilities that bypassed
NASA's broadcasting outlets picked up the following exchange:
