Here in Sweden we have seen a lot of clips from Mission Control Center,
Mission Launch Center and from Flight Control. I wonder what kind of
computers are in use and what operating system they are using? I have
seen tracking with familiar Linux and windows IDE. Mission critical

What was this call? About a min. before MECO, they told the PLT to
expect a nominal shutdown.. never heard that call before -
What would something non-nominal be? Were they referring to abort modes
or something else?

I remember when the program started much was made of the sink with
running water aboard the shuttle (the bulb like unit into which the
crew could insert their hands and wash while having the water
contained)  I have heard much as to how it has functioned for the

I think the pre-MECO ring of fire is the result of our perspective from
observing from on board the shuttle -- and the actual 3-D shape of the
glowing region is a hollow cone with the shuttle at its apex. The cone,
widening with distance from the shuttle, is the region of exhaust ...

Why is it, that after a shuttle docks with the space station, it takes
nearly two hours for them to get around to opening the hatches?
