The Beach (KSC) is looking better.22 Dec 2006 22:21 GMT5
But, it won't be as warm as the one in Hawaii.
Looks like it's good enough to give KSC a try.

15.50 EST - go for APU prestart22 Dec 2006 21:01 GMT1
It looks like they are planning on coming down during this next set of
opportunities.  My bet is Edwards.

White Sands vs. Edwards... how does this work?22 Dec 2006 20:49 GMT3
The last slot for White Sands is at 19.02. The last at Edwards is at
20.36. But what use is this last slot? If KSC is out, and Edwards is
still no-go at 19.02, wouldn't they have to commit to White Sands at
that point?
Pre-landing shuttle/station question22 Dec 2006 18:02 GMT3
Evening all!  It's been a while!
A few things discussed over the past few days on NASA Select got me
thinking.
A reporter asked a specific (and rather silly) question about the
STS-116 Landing Ground Track Understanding22 Dec 2006 17:33 GMT1
http://www.nasa.gov/images/content/165684main_KSC202_close.gif
Shows a close range ground track for a Kennedy landing.
I think I understand the geography, the blue line being the runway and
the green straight line being the shuttle's path, followed by a slow
White Sands viewing?22 Dec 2006 17:30 GMT1
If they go for WSSH on orbit 204 how visible will it be from the Las Cruces
vicinity or points north along !-25?    Wondering what its altitude would be at
that distance from the landing and if the sight is worth a few hour's drive?

Why Christer and not Suni for EVA-4?22 Dec 2006 16:20 GMT46
Can somebody review again the EMU management issues
that had pre-determined that Christer and not Suni would
make this 4th EVA? I want to make clear to my clients
that Suni's not going outside today had nothing to do
Fuel cells  and batteries22 Dec 2006 02:01 GMT8
Considering the  expendables issue, it made me wonder. With all the
discussion about Atlantis' fuel cells and how many it needs to be operating
etc, could they not simply run fewer of them for a while to eek out the
fuel? Or do they have batteries and the fuel cells only operate ...
Alternate End-of-mission Landing Sites21 Dec 2006 20:33 GMT2
Other than KSC, EAFB, and White Sands are there any other authorized
end-of-mission landing sites?  With weather conditions not looking
great for tomorrow's landing at KSC and EAFB, and the concerns over
landing at White Sands, is there an alternative?  The other landing
Discovery consumables question21 Dec 2006 15:13 GMT13
Was reading several stories concerning Discovery and the fact that it
must land by Saturday or for example CNN is quoting,
"If the shuttle can't land Friday, other attempts can be made on
Saturday. Discovery must be on the ground by Saturday or it will run
White Sands landing?21 Dec 2006 14:25 GMT10
Early weather forecasts are saying KSC may have low clouds/showers
Edwards has a chance of high winds.
White Sands looks great..
NASA flight rules say they must come home Friday because they'd be out
Landing Sites21 Dec 2006 12:04 GMT2
I dug out Space Shuttle Ed. 3 from Jenkins.
The Landing Sites Circa 2000 are listed on page 260.
Only 3 sites are listed under the EOM/AOA sites (End of Mission and Abort
Once Around).
