Apparently lighting strikes to the pad area, so they want to check it out
further.
Another "what if" question...27 Aug 2006 11:52 GMT9
I certainly don't wish harm on any of the astronauts, don't get me wrong.
But this question popped into my head somehow and it won't go away before
it is answered... ;)

If a shuttle couldnt land and didnt make ISS26 Aug 2006 18:59 GMT14
How much could ISS drop its orbit to match a stranded shuttle?
and still remain in orbit at least till the crew was rescued..
Water into ice statement26 Aug 2006 05:53 GMT1
OK, I used to teach the astronauts how to fly the space shuttle.  I have
been in a discussion on turning water into ice on a different thread.  I
just reread them and realize I need to step back and explain a bit.  My
apologies for any that didn't follow at first.

So I suppose a new group for this then?
Will it ever get built?

Re: Former astronaut, senator Glenn hurt in car crash26 Aug 2006 02:42 GMT20
Statistics aside (and wasn't the whole car vs. space thing covered here a
few years ago?), the sad part of this story is that John Glenn is 85 years
old, and this may signal the end of his ability to drive a car. If not yet, soon.

Question On Sound of Shuttle Launch25 Aug 2006 20:25 GMT48
All,
I'm considering visiting Kennedy to witness a shuttle launch--something
I've always wanted to do.  My question is I am blind and I'm wondering
if the sound and feel of the launch is impressive enough to make a trip
What Is "Group B" Computer25 Aug 2006 02:44 GMT1
Looking at the flight plan and notice they seem to do a lot of "Group B
Computer" power-up and power-downs. In looking at other activities, I'd
make a guess they're related to manuvering.
Anybody know what this is?

Discovery's age24 Aug 2006 16:04 GMT2
Discovery recently passed out Columbia as the orbiter to have been in
service the longest...it will be 22 years on August 30. Columbia was
closing in on 22 years but missed it by a little over two months.

Russia corrects ISS orbit to host spacecraft24 Aug 2006 11:40 GMT3
This is a 'magic reboost' that, if done correctly
(as it looks it was) gives Flight-Day-3 rendezvous
windows for EVERY day in the shuttle launch window,
by adjusting the phase angle (lead angle) at liftoff,
Sci.Space.CEV23 Aug 2006 22:49 GMT18
Will there ever be one?
What does it take to start one up?
And when will sci.space.shuttle fold up?
Just wondering.
Shuttle power when docked23 Aug 2006 04:59 GMT1
I am curious. How much power does the shuttle draw from the
station in amps when docked or is all power generation
independent on the shuttle when docked? Is the power all DC
or AC or a mix?
NASA TV on DIRECTV - images "stretched"23 Aug 2006 00:54 GMT1
Would anybody who has DIRECTV check to see if the aspect ratio on the
images are offset on NASA TV?
I noticed this about a week ago.  It is not my TV or reciever. I
checked with another TV and reciever, and I am getting the same thing.
