Loss of L5L -- what impact on boom ops, rndz/docking, reboost, other activities04 Jul 2006 03:24 GMT3
So, flying without one of six vernier jets (L5L),
assuming the rattle and roll of ascent doesn't

Playing the odds.03 Jul 2006 23:56 GMT27
this quote from Mike Griffin the supposed responsible adminstrator of
NASA. Since when did flying move into las vegas?
if theres a accident griffin can stand by his boss the incompetent
president and watch nasa get dismembered, frever gutted of man in
WX for launch today - it if was scheduled.03 Jul 2006 21:49 GMT2
Anybody have an idea if KSC was "green" for Weather - if a launch was
scheduled for today?
I approximated the window would have been about 1:14pm.  It looked like
there was no anvils or Thunderstorms within 20 nm.  However, after the
How is the liquid hydrogen handled ?03 Jul 2006 17:50 GMT9
I understand that there is currently only a 30% chance for lift-off.
If the launch is delayed for another 24 hours, what happens to all the
liquid hydrogen in the tank ? will it not evaporate ? - or is it sucked
out of the tanks and kept in a huge freezer over night ?
Weather03 Jul 2006 17:17 GMT19
Well, the weather is, as we UK folk call it, Pants' at the Cape by the sound
of it, why are they bothering? Do they know something  we don't?

So, they are certainly proving that the wet sensors work this time.
I wonder what all this is doing to the bonding of the foam, etc?

NASA Web Site03 Jul 2006 06:40 GMT6
Right now, I'm just getting a flashing black, then white screen
of the below NASA site?
Has something gone wrong with this web site?
I'm using IE 5.5.
Why Firing Room 4?03 Jul 2006 06:18 GMT5
I noticed that NASA is using Firing Room 4 for this and apparently all
future shuttle launches.  My question is why?  Why go through the
effort of updating and modernizing a firing room that has never been
used for STS missions before so late in the program?  What's wrong with
STS-114 Launch video needed.03 Jul 2006 06:15 GMT2
Hello there.  I am wondering if anybody out there has a VHS (or DVD)
copy of STS-114's beautiful launch coverage recorded from NASA TV, from
say T minus 2 minutes to MECO?
I am willing to fund what it would take to have a copy of that launch
Effects of an lightning strike on the STS  (compared to Apollo 12)?03 Jul 2006 04:05 GMT3
With the two weather scrubs of 121 and a lot of talk about anvil
clouds, vehicle triggered strike etc, it has me wondering (and i'm not
suggesting that we ever find out in practice!), would the STS stack be
tolerated as well as the strike on the Apollo/Saturn 12 Stack?
Next launch attempt on the 4th...why not the 3rd?03 Jul 2006 03:35 GMT2
So why don't they try again tomorrow instead of waiting until the 4th?

Any news on Hubble mission?02 Jul 2006 22:40 GMT2
Its gone quiet recently, but as the telescope seems to be having some
problems in the last week, things may get more urgent there.
I've not read a detailed  description of the problem, but it seems one
instrument has suffered undervolt power supply problems. Now this could be
Ares recovery02 Jul 2006 17:48 GMT6
Fox News showed a small model of the Ares rockets, and said the crew
compartment was similar to an Apollo capsule.
Will this use parachutes and land in the sea?
How long before it's ready to use?
