| Alternate Landing Site - why not use Vandenberg? | 31 Jul 2006 21:11 GMT | 17 |
During the last days of the last shuttle mission, flight controllers indicated that they would call up both Edwards AFB and White Sands AFB (Northrop field, Space Harbor) as alternates for a Tuesday landing if the shuttle didn't land at KSC on Monday.

| Ritual abuse/mind control | 30 Jul 2006 21:29 GMT | 3 |
Edward Kennedy says it is very rare for a survivor of satanic ritual abuse and mind control to not have MPD. I have been accused of being the 2nd greatest criminal in history for surviving ritual abuse and mind control without MPD and for being an

| Astronauts in the ascent | 30 Jul 2006 18:28 GMT | 11 |
Do the astronauts push any button, flip any switch during shuttle ascent? I have looked some launch video from inside cockpit and don't know if the push something or only point at it. If do so, which ones?

| Can they still go back to ISS? | 28 Jul 2006 15:07 GMT | 12 |
Everything seems to be going just fine now, thank goodness, but I was just curious: if something was found wrong in this stage of the flight, after separating from ISS and before deorbit, would the Orbiter still be able to go back to the ISS for the crew to wait for rescue there? If ...

| Slightly OT Moon landings. | 28 Jul 2006 13:03 GMT | 14 |
I'm sure on this conspiracy theory laden group, you are familiar with the 'men never walked on the moon' crowd. Surely, with the lowering of the orbit of Smart over the next few weeks, before it hits something, it might have enough resolution to clear up the matter once and for ...

| Pecking order for MS1 seat? | 27 Jul 2006 02:16 GMT | 7 |
I know the highlight of every astronaut's career is to be assigned to a mission, occupying one of possibly the 7 most sought after seats in the world. However astronauts are human after all, and I'm certain that a secondary

| Lift-Off Magazine | 26 Jul 2006 06:11 GMT | 1 |
I subscribed to this magazine for 10 issues. I got the double-sized one for STS-114, which counted as two issues, but nothing for STS-121 or STS-115. I sent them a note and have not heard back. Is anyone else having this problem?

| future commanders | 26 Jul 2006 03:50 GMT | 7 |
Since in order to be shuttle mission commander, you have to have flown at least one flight as pilot, and the program's in its home stretch, is it possible to pretty accurately figure out the remaining commanders of the last missions?

| Great spectacle guys - congratulations | 23 Jul 2006 19:38 GMT | 9 |
From a Brit whose support for the US has been sorely tested by (1) your choice of leaders and (2) your persistence with the death penalty and (3) your government's foreign policies, a huge thankyou for another aesome show today at the Discovery launch.

| after the next accident... | 23 Jul 2006 19:34 GMT | 25 |
Manned space will likely be gutted from NASA. That leaves pads 39 A & B with no futher use. I think they should be made into nice permanent exhibits. Return 39B to the appearance of the apollo era, and stack a full model

| STS-118 patch | 22 Jul 2006 15:47 GMT | 2 |
If wikipedia is any indication, the STS-118 patch has not yet been released. Considering this was to be Columbia's next mission, I think it would be neat if the patch paid tribute to Columbia in some small and subtle way. Usually patches have hidden nods, so I'll be interested

| GPC Failures | 22 Jul 2006 03:33 GMT | 15 |
Has there being any GPC failures during the crictical ascent / descent stages of flight ? The only time that I know of is during the first flight during ascent. If one fails how do you reach a majority decision with four. ?

| orbiter maneuvering | 21 Jul 2006 23:24 GMT | 11 |
How much maneuvering can orbiter do while descending through upper atmosphere? Is it possible to modify descent profile by changing vehicle's attitude slightly, like pitching up or down a bit, or forward-slipping a little? Can thermal load distribution be modified that way? In other ...
