On Hydrogen Fuel28 Feb 2006 22:38 GMT30
I am beginning to wonder whether hydrogen is being used to full

Phil Chien has book on Columbia disaster28 Feb 2006 19:29 GMT7
I got this note from Phil and am happy to pass it along.
(My only quibble is I don't call the Columbia disaster
an 'accident', neither was 'challenger' -- but 'consequences'.)
I am pleased to announce that my website http://www.sts107.info is now open
Risk Assessment: Soyuz27 Feb 2006 20:10 GMT2
There were risk assessments for Apollo.  And, as we are all aware, various
risk assessments for Space Shuttle missions.
Has a quantitative risk assessment of a Soyuz mission been published?

How serious is the May window?27 Feb 2006 05:32 GMT30
Yeah, I -KNOW- everybody is
supposed to be 'working toward' a
mid-May liftoff, but then why are
the working troops I talk with all so

bad landing video26 Feb 2006 15:01 GMT3
Since there was only one response to my earlier post...
here's a video of the STS-3 landing..correct me if I'm wrong but
doesn't the landing gear get deployed 19 seconds before touchdown?
Counting from the moment the gear doors open to touchdown, it's only 7

NASCAR cars are safer than the NASA space shuttles!  NASA needs to be hiring some of that NASCAR expertise in safety!24 Feb 2006 22:36 GMT21
everyone recalls the 'tragedies' of skytrains1 and 2 - challenger and
columbia.  Since the beginning of the space shuttle program many more
astronauts have died than NASCAR drivers.  The only NASCAR driver to
pass that I can think of as I write this is the late, great Dale
Susan Sarandon narrates film on Challenger disaster24 Feb 2006 03:03 GMT46
Susan Sarandon narrates film on Challenger disaster? You gotta depend on her
finding a way to blame Bush -- or at least, blame Reagan. Considering the
cultural background this film project sprang from, I start out suspicious of
accuracy.
"Riding Rockets" by Mike Mullane24 Feb 2006 00:50 GMT4
Retired shuttle astronaut Mike Mullane takes readers inside NASA's bold
facade in "Riding Rockets: The Outrageous Tales of a Space Shuttle
Astronaut," an alternately gripping, hilarious and emotionally honest
autobiography.
