Processing time, Soyuz, Shuttle and CEV30 Sep 2005 21:14 GMT2
Shuttle spends time in the OPF getting ready/maintained. Then it goes to
VAB where the stack is assembled, then moved to the pad where it spends
about a month for further outfitting and loading of cargo bay.
In an original scenario of high frequency launches, I could see a point

Why not two?26 Sep 2005 19:19 GMT1
Couldn't you cut the risks in half by sending two missions at the same time?
Send two person crews on each, though the CEV can accommodate four for
double redundancy?
CEV cabin space question26 Sep 2005 17:34 GMT6
Does anyone know the maximum amount of cabin space the new CEV will
have for the astronauts to occupy?  Anyone know what the dimensions of the
CEV crew cabin will be or know of a website when I can find this
information?  I wonder if it will be as big as the space shuttle ...
CEV and Stick26 Sep 2005 04:11 GMT123
Has the final CEV design been chosen and what will it look like, the
Lockheed design with small winglets or will it be a complete modular design
like the Apollo spacecraft?  As far as I know the launcher for the CEV will
be a 2 stage launcher rocket composed of one solid ...

Raffaello Multi-Purpose Logistics Module25 Sep 2005 17:59 GMT6
I can only assume once the shuttle's flown for the last time, the tons of
rubbish (sorry garbage) that was returned safely to earth in the Raffaello
Multi-Purpose Logistics Module will now be stored in some kind of orbital
space fill site. Is NASA developing a Multi Purpose Cargo ...

If Moon,Mars and Beyond Canceled what next for NASA?23 Sep 2005 12:28 GMT67
For sake of argument lets say that moon, mars and beyond is
underfunded and then canceled next decade sometime, so the moon, mars and
beyond program is off.  What will NASA spend their 16 billion dollar or 15
billion dollar budget money on?  Orbiting the Earth in CEV and ...
Back to the moon, only CEV reuseable?23 Sep 2005 04:41 GMT1
Looking at the planned vehicles for the return to the moon, the
article(s) seemed to emphasize leverage of shuttle technology. For
example the use of SSMEs and SSRBs. However, only the CEV was described
as reusable.
