Dumped Fuel?10 Aug 2005 14:02 GMT5
This is my first "shuttle watch" and I sure am glad that everything
went fine and the shuttle is back on terra firma. It's been a pleasure
to read the posts in this group. Most of my questions were answered
before I even needed to post them. Some of you guys/dolls should be

Gene Krantz Impersonator10 Aug 2005 13:23 GMT4
After watching NASA TV for days, I've noticed a guy that seems to look
quite a lot like some photos I've seen of Gene Krantz during the Apollo
days. He was near the FD(might have been the FD) and CAPCOM on the
re-entry shift. Who is he? Thanks,
sonic boom10 Aug 2005 11:53 GMT2
The sonic boom was very loud in the LA area. I had my windows open. It
rattled my windows and my drapes poofed inward a couple if inches. Pretty

I was going to go outside but I figured the shuttle was not going to be

What was that venting in front of the tail?10 Aug 2005 07:28 GMT2
As Discovery landed you could see something venting in front of the
upper tailfin on the infrared video what was it?  Also why do some of
the titles on the side of the orbiter look dirty?

Payload Bat doors?10 Aug 2005 04:58 GMT1
How long can the shuttle fly with doors closed? If this morning was three
orbits doors closed that seems to about 4.5 hours.
Question for Jim O.10 Aug 2005 04:50 GMT6
That auditorium at the Cain press briefing didn't look very crowded.
They never showed a wide shot of the room but it seemed like there were
a lot of empty seats.  How many people would you say were in attendance,
and - a followup if I may - how many does the room hold?  LeRoy ...
Towing the orbiter10 Aug 2005 00:40 GMT2
Fantastic closeup video right now as Discovery is towed off the runway.
Thermal blanket condition?09 Aug 2005 23:28 GMT1
Has there been any word or picture concerning the status of the damaged
thermal blanket below the CDR's window?
Orbiter comm blackout during reentry09 Aug 2005 21:54 GMT5
Does the orbiter still go through a period of comm blackout due to
plasma build-up during reentry?  I notice that in the DOL PAD there is
an event TDRS-W AOS.
