| ISS consumables "Safety Margin" | 22 Aug 2005 03:34 GMT | 8 |
If the shuttle fleet were grounded (as they are) - and a Progress flight was (for some reason) unable to deliver it's payload, how long could the ISS crew survive before things became critical?

| Tile damage, suspense and politics | 22 Aug 2005 01:15 GMT | 4 |
Did anybody think about the tile damage and the suspense it created? If I were NASA, I would create the same FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) if I would like funding for a new spacecraft.... ;-)

| Various bits about iss and Shuttle | 21 Aug 2005 23:44 GMT | 10 |
Hi folks, I heard a fair chunk of the EVA yesterday, and I was struck by how retro the whole thing seemed after the Shuttle evas with their helmet cameras and robot arms etc. So we have really bodged fixings for all sorts of clutter fitted to the

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The $100-billion International Space Station could end up on the scrap heap if NASA's shuttle flights do not return to normal soon, scientists say. NASA said on Thursday its next shuttle flight would not be until March,

Since I can't find a number easily: about how many times is the average SRB casing reused, and do they try and reuse pairs together?

| SCA Just flew over my house | 20 Aug 2005 05:46 GMT | 2 |
My wife just called franticlly saying that the SCA was flying over my house at 5 minutes ago (5:10 CDT). I live in Hughes Springs, Texas. Barksdale AFB is about 60-75 miles away. Alas, the video camera was not ready, and the digital camera was hard to

| Shuttle/747 Sighting Opportunity in Phoenix? | 19 Aug 2005 21:23 GMT | 4 |
I noticed that a Great Circle from Edwards to Houston passes roughly over Phoenix. This gives me at least some hope that I may be able to spot it. Even if it is 30 miles downrange when it passes by, that puts it an an altitude of ~2 degrees (10K feet, right?). Of course, I'm

| Thoughts on the Mathematical Properties of Nasa's Long Term Goal | 19 Aug 2005 15:50 GMT | 17 |
To the Moon and Mars. What will become of this goal? Complexity science makes predicting the future and effectiveness of this goal exceedingly simple. And if you read through you might see why I have such contempt for this plan.
