Did you see the size of that multiplexing black box?05 Aug 2005 11:37 GMT25
It must weigh 20 pounds!  How many other pieces of crap like that are on
board?
I can see why Lockheed?Martin used ghosts to successfully sabotage their
own Penguin project obligations.  They weren't making enough money on
Newbie question05 Aug 2005 03:47 GMT3
I haven't watched much space coverage until this mission.  It seems to
me that there are many 'glitches' to deal with.  Was it always like
this, or do we know more now due to better communications, pictures,
Wayne Hale and the management shake-up05 Aug 2005 03:14 GMT3
I was just wondering if Wayne Hale is staying or leaving. Sure, his
eyes sometimes bug out frighteningly during press briefings, but I
really like the guy. As patient and affable as he seems to be, I still
suspect that I wouldn't want to get on his s**t list...
Japanese culture ..05 Aug 2005 00:27 GMT1
I know a little having worked for a Japanese bank, but what wa the fan all
about? Is the sight of an erect microphone offensive?
Very impressive questions by the Japanese PM.
Does Eileen's hair go up on Earth?
Robinson suprised at the "3 inch gash"?04 Aug 2005 22:26 GMT9
It's some hours since I saw the live coverage of today's EAV, but I recall
just as Robinson is being positioned to do the first gap-filler removal, he
comments on the 3 inch gash across two tiles. We know what he's talking
about because we already saw the pictures of the tile ...
Countdown of Fear and Distrust04 Aug 2005 21:58 GMT6
>From what I've read about Lockheed's main (external) propellant tank
mods, they are significant enough to warrant a Wet Countdown
Demonstration Test (WCDT) and a Flight Readiness Firing (FRF).
Lockheed and NASA launched Challenger (Mission 51-L) without those
Can you see the wings in any detail from the side windows?04 Aug 2005 21:47 GMT5
Today I downloaded the Cult3d Shuttle file from the CNN-site
http://edition.cnn.com/interactive/space/0507/space.shuttle/frameset.exclude.html
and it definitely looks you can see at least a part of the wings from inside
the shuttle. The windows, however, are rather thick so I'm ...

ET video with white panel floating by.04 Aug 2005 19:39 GMT3
Did anyone hear mention of where the white panel came from in the ET video
shot from Discovery after seperation?

Why is this happening now?04 Aug 2005 18:29 GMT19
They've flown shuttles for decades without having these problems. Why is
NASA still having this foam problem?

Orbiter wing utilization04 Aug 2005 15:43 GMT14
The present wings were sized to permit some kind of military performance
specification. Something to do with turning to landing sites away from the
orbital path.
Was there even one mission where the orbiter has used that capability??? I
The TPS gap fillers that were removed04 Aug 2005 15:42 GMT3
The TPS gap fillers that were removed from the undersdie of the
orbiter were both located at intersections where there were new tiles
installed. I could tell since new tiles are very black in color,
lacking the overcoat of contaminants that are seen on older tiles. When

Cockpit window thermal blanket04 Aug 2005 12:03 GMT8
Anyone care to speculate on what could have hit that blanket?  NASA
officials have said they're going to wait until after the mission to
analyze the root cause of what appears to be impact damage.
Could it have been that bird that was clipped at launch?
Tile damage assesment, nose wheel door04 Aug 2005 11:16 GMT1
Does anyone have a link to the tile damage assessment on the nose wheel
door, or point me at the conclusions NASA have made about this damage?
Thanks.
