| Emotional Pamela Melroy Interview re Discovery - Source? | 09 Aug 2005 21:52 GMT | 4 |
On Sunday night, on WABC radio, I was listening to one of the hourly news updates from ABC News, and I heard a brief sound bite from an interview with Astronaut Pamela Melroy. She sounded very emotional and said of the returning Discovery crew "They're bringing Columbia home"

| Re-Entry Video? | 09 Aug 2005 21:03 GMT | 5 |
I've seen a few very short clips of re-entry from the crews perspective. Always much too short for me. Are there any full length videos to be had out there? Les

| Why not use digital audio? | 09 Aug 2005 20:57 GMT | 3 |
Is there any reason why the voice to/from the orbiter is not digitally encoded/decoded? To laggy? Listening on NASA TV sometimes I can barely make out what the pilots are saying.

| BOOM, BOOM! | 09 Aug 2005 16:11 GMT | 13 |
The Orbiter just flew over us and announced its presence. Everyone in Lancaster and at Edwards is wide awake, I'll bet. It's a good landing, in the dark. They had IR imaging and the nose was really bright. They also had HUD video, with the green imagery

| What are we seeing now? | 09 Aug 2005 15:38 GMT | 11 |
It's about 12 minutes until the deorbit burn, and a small while shuttle-shaped object is being carefully kept centered on NASA TV. I haven't been paying close enough attention- it that the shuttle through a telescope? We might actually see the burn and early reentry? Amazing, if ...

| It's Been Time To Scrap The Shuttle For Years | 09 Aug 2005 14:43 GMT | 48 |
I was watching this shuttle launch with apprehension. That's because earlier the shuttle was sitting on the pad and something fell off the shuttle and hit the tail section. This required a repair. Now that should have set off a red light in the head of these "geniuses" at ...
