Friday marks the 888th day since Columbia's infamous demise on STS-107. Here's hoping Discovery's flight on STS-114 goes well starting (hopefully) a week from today. I'll be glued to the coverage, both broadcast and streaming over the net as a lot of people will be.

Unnnh, what's the second most insulating material NASA has its hands on? That would be: CERAMIC TILES! Why not glue them (they're cheap as sh.t now) on the external tank on the Shuttle-Mounted side and coat them with Teflon (to shed any ice during the initial shaking of takeoff. ...
