BULLETIN: STS-114 scrubbed for today14 Jul 2005 15:41 GMT31
...And it wasn't weather, either. Seems it's a problem with an LH2
flow sensor, and the Launch Director is erring on the side of caution.

Reason for Delay?14 Jul 2005 12:39 GMT2
From spaceflightnow.com.
"It was not clear what caused today's problem, but the sensor system has
encountered unusual trouble in recent weeks, possibly due to suspect
transisters in an electronics "black box" in Discovery's aft compartment.

The voice of "Shuttle Launch Control"14 Jul 2005 01:47 GMT3
"Take Your Daughter to Work Day" is a fine and worthy concept, but is
shuttle Return-to-Flight the appropriate day for KSC PAO to put it into
effect?
I'm sure she is a delightful person, and undoubtedly has risen up through
NBC mistakes14 Jul 2005 01:30 GMT7
Well since Jim Oberg asked that mistakes on NBC brought to his
attention I figured I'd take him up on it.
In the MSNBC special Jay Barbaree talked about the tiles on the OMS
pods and compared them with the "tiles" which doomed Columbia. Last
Irony:13 Jul 2005 23:33 GMT1
In the last hour or so, in a burst of irony, spaceflight.nasa.gov finally
released a news update on their "official" news section - it's the first one
for 7/13 (today) and it's the Administrator's Launch Day Message.  Very
inspiring, very ironic.
Crawler parking13 Jul 2005 22:43 GMT2
The shot CNN just showed of the astro van traveling down the
crawlerway showed one of the crawlers parked at the old LUT parking
pad.  Is this a normal position when a Shuttle is on the pad?  Special
for -114?  Pre-positioning for a possible hurricane rollback?
Scrubbed...13 Jul 2005 21:54 GMT1

What happens to the fuel after a scrub?13 Jul 2005 21:15 GMT2
When they scrub a launch, what happens to the fuel and oxidizer that's
loaded into the vehicle?  I assume it's drained, but then what?  Is it
just put back into storage tanks to re-use the next time, or is it
considered contaminated and they start with fresh fuel each time (and
Media Coverage13 Jul 2005 21:06 GMT1
Just turned on one of the news channels and the female reporter noted that
most of the astronauts had their normal pre-launch breakfast but that Eileen
Collins only had toast and something to drink.  She was dispatching her
investigators to determine the significance of this ...
Fatal Shuttle Flaws -- Design or Operational?13 Jul 2005 19:44 GMT13
At Edwards AFB on July 4, 1982, after the fourth space shuttle landing,
President Reagan declared the shuttle "operational." Despite twenty
more successful missions, Challenger caused many people (even at NASA)
to question Reagan's declaration. They proposed "design flaws" in
Bird takes sh.t on shuttle13 Jul 2005 18:51 GMT3
I was just watching the NASA channel and saw a bird fly by and take a
sh.t on the space shuttle, how will this affect the launch? Is it too
dangerous to launch and does it warrant inspection?
other covers DESIGNED to fall off at lift-off13 Jul 2005 17:07 GMT8
Jim Oberg advises his news media clients:

about two dozen
paper covers over the maneuvering jet nozzles (to prevent water getting into
