My family and I will be in Orlando from 7th - 21st May. I planning to go to Titusville to watch the launch from one of the parks there. Anyone had experience of this? What is the area like for parking, views etc ? Many thanks from a (hopeful) 1st timer..........Adam

With all this info about foam still going to fall of, was there any consideration to putting a tight mesh "net" around the ET to contain any loose debris?

I thought I had remembered reading that part of the process of getting the shuttle ready would be to go through a test firing of the main engines. (You know where they light up the mains and let them run for something like 3 minutes if I remember correctly).

I was a bit worried to learn that there is already a crack in the tank foam. It is indeed a sobering thought that in these days of technological miracles, we simply cannot coat a large body with foam uniformly enough for it not to crack up.

I saw in the news the Shuttle is being rolled out from its Assembly Building today. Yet the launch is almost a month and a half from now. Why is so much time allowed for it to remain on the launch pad? Is all that time really needed to check out systems that couldn't be done in ...
