Hi folks, thought I'd introduce... or attempt to, some more sane  discussion
here for a change.
Seems to me, that although from the transport point of view, we can get
humans to the moon and to Mars, and probably back again, the difficult

It occurred to me, after the appalling loss of life two days ago around the
Indian Ocean, that if some sort of early warning system could be built, this
could to some extent have been avoided, at least for the areas several hours
away.

Why didn't somebody else think of this?  Its foolproof.
There's a team of guys who decide go or no-go for a shuttle launch.  So,
they draw straws and one suits up with regular astronauts, taking the seat
of one.  Yes, its dead weight, but so was the school teacher on that
