Ditching our current space programs???15 Aug 2004 19:51 GMT1
I'm going to pose this question one last time because I don't believe anyone
has ever answered back with a suitable alternative for the assets we would
be losing if we got rid of both the shuttle and the space station.  The fact
that no one seems to know is in itself an answer of ...

THE FUTURE
Quiet often I can't help but wonder what the future holds for the
human race.
It doesn't seem like we're in any danger of becoming extinct any time
Oribiter movement from VAB to pad question10 Aug 2004 23:25 GMT7
I was watching a special on the preparation of the vehicle and thought they
mentioned that the orbiter is powered during the move out process.
Actually they said the only time the orbiters are powered down is during
some work in the Orbiter Processing Facility after which power is ...

in memory of the crew of the Shuttle Columbia. Nice touch on the part
of the "Enterprise" team, natch.

Wipeout Our Current Space Program ???05 Aug 2004 15:25 GMT4
As far as those questioning the need for human space exploration I
personally think it's one of the most important activities we should be
doing today.  I don't know why, I don't have a good reason except I would
like to believe that humans can safely travel through space.  Just ...
Story Musgrave02 Aug 2004 23:38 GMT73
I just watched a show on UK history regarding the Space Shuttle Columbia
disaster and I didn't learn much that I don't know already. However in an
interview, Story Musgrave stated that the shutle was 5 - 10 times less safe
than the Gemini and Apollo spacecraft that flew before but ...
Why would Kerry wearing a cleanroom suit matter?02 Aug 2004 21:11 GMT13
Hell, it's a mandatory piece of equipment for the environment
he was in. Complaining about this is like complaining about
someone wearing a hard hat on a construction site, or
a mask in a hazardous atmosphere. So what? That shuttle's
