Newsgroup posting problems?30 Sep 2003 13:57 GMT5
Does anyone else notice recent posts not showing up on Google?  There appear
to be posts in Google that are not showing up in my newsreader when I
retrieve messages from s.s.s. via my ISP news feed. Also, there appear to be
some posts from today and yesterday on Google that result ...
do chickens cluck or bluck?29 Sep 2003 23:20 GMT1
Taking  risks is a basic human right and  governments should honor this
concept.          Astronauts should have the right to risk their own lives
for something they believe in

Dynamic re-entry profile ?29 Sep 2003 13:55 GMT5
Right now, the properties of the pre-determined re-entry profile are well
known and the shuttle's guidance computer is well programmed to handle it,
allowing shuttle to de-orbit at the right time and reach the runway vicinity
at the right altitude/speed. They even know prior to ...
MEDS Glass Cockpit Led to Death of Columbia Crew  (One Gaping Hole in the CAIB Report)29 Sep 2003 07:09 GMT224
A popular poster available from NASA is the one showing the shuttle's
modern glass cockpit.  Whenever I look at this image:

...I feel a sickening reminder of how this glass cockpit led to the
Updated STS-107 Timeline??  GroundTrack???28 Sep 2003 23:22 GMT1
Does anybody know if there is an updated STS-107 Timeline Excel spread sheet
or GroundTrack PDF document later than Revision 15 ??   I could find nothing
but Rev. 15 at the C.A.I.B. site.  For some reason I thought the Rev. 15
GroundTrack had the OEX/MADS data on it but I don't ...
The SSME throttle-up?28 Sep 2003 18:42 GMT28
When the shuttle lifts off just before the SRB's kick-in the ME's are
at full power, which is 100% with the throttles wide open, and yet a
little over 2 minutes after lift off the SSME's go to throttle up and
the ME's increase thrust to 106%.   If the ME's are already wide open

Dogged Engineer's Effort to Assess Shuttle Damage
By JAMES GLANZ and JOHN SCHWARTZ

Sound energy from liquid engines27 Sep 2003 22:17 GMT6
Is there a way to quantify the amount of noise created by an engine such as
an SSME? In a vehicle for use for manned long range exploration, would it
be possible to dampen the sound enough to allow engineers to work on a live
engine(well maybe the feed systems, control gear etc)? ...

MEDS Created "Window of Vulnerability" Safety Risk27 Sep 2003 02:08 GMT9
In exposure of further weakness to the argument that MEDS can be
justified as a safety upgrade, the NASA Mixed Fleet Study of May 2001
stands as clear recognition that transition to MEDS created a safety
risk:

Who the hell is Booz, Allen, and Hamilton ?!?25 Sep 2003 02:58 GMT1
A company with strong ties to the atrocity of September 11, 2001 is
also implicated in the intense digital harrasment experienced in the
past couple of years by pro-Palestinian activists.
Booz-Allen is engaged in the creation of a program called "Magic
