I was wondering: How do we know it would even be possible to receive the signals from aliens even if they did exist and did send out radio? Considering we have a galaxy full of stars blasting out far more intense radio signals than any ground-based transmitter could.

I thought I would restart SETI@Home on my nice new system. But I soon found that the new programme is nothing like the proper SETI@Home that I was using in 1999. This BOINC thing is riddled with problems and I want it off my system.

Is there anybodyyyyy... Out there? <cue acoustic guitar> I've recently returned to crunching a few units again after an hiatus as I have use of a wattage meter and discovered that running SETI/BOINC on a 30% duty cycle only consumes an extra 10W on my C2D @ 3.3GHz.
