Just the past couple of days my wifes XP home has start to SYN FLOOD my setiQ machine when it trys to send in a unit sends from various ports normally 2 apart(and never the same starting port) and destinating to port 5517 which is setiQ. No virus has been detected on the machine ...

at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/boinc_transition_plan.html I can see that boinc will include the caching function. However I've a problem with my actual configuration: 1) PC n.1 at home with SetiGate and an internet connection.

Well, in spite of too many months of hardware down time--first lightning killed my system and then, about a year or so later, the m'board of its replacement died--I've finally broken 1000 work units!

I have thought this out for less time than it will take me to compose the post. I have not looked into why very long baseline telescopes work much less how to make them work. The current seti@home takes a little time and no cost other than electricity.

Since May 16 1999 I've been crunching work units and I just reached the 7500 work units completed mark. No company computers are at my disposal, just two home PCs that mostly run 24x7. First the excitement wore off. Later, the fun wore off.
