Moon's altered orbit30 Jan 2004 02:34 GMT3
I asked this question at sci.space.tech, likely the wrong place.
If something physical or meta-physical happened whereby the Moon's
orbit was suddenly changed to an apogy of just within Earth's
gravitational pull (sorry, don't know the distance) and a perogy of
Can someone answer this question for me, please?29 Jan 2004 17:08 GMT8
I am unable to articulate this, but, why go to mars? How does what we're
doing on mars relate to us on earth? And is there any beneficial reasons
why we should spend money on exploring mars? I guess what i'm asking is,
how do the recent probes do us any good and why should we ...
Re: Mars Express image of Valles Marineris shows green!28 Jan 2004 22:15 GMT2

It takes 9 minutes for signals from Mars to reach earth... OK
One thing struck me when I was watching last Saturday's  landing,
it seems that everyone was reacting as though it was happening real time?

Supermassive black holes28 Jan 2004 19:51 GMT3
Hello all, I recently watched a show on Discovery about supermassive
black holes.  Black holes have always fascinated me and this show what
also very interesting.  I have a question though. Black holes
supposedly have such a strong gravitational pull that nothing can
Mars Rover longevity again limited by dust build-up28 Jan 2004 01:30 GMT34
I was wondering why NASA accepts a shortened life for the Mars Rovers
due to "dust build-up on the solar panels".
Is cleaning them beyond their rocket scientists ?

MER Raw Image Naming System27 Jan 2004 15:10 GMT2
Can anyone shed light on the naming system JPL uses for their raw image
filenames?  This is what I have figured out on my own:
Eg: 2 P 126553081 ESF 0200 P 2100 L6 M1 .JPG
2 = MER-2 (Spirit aka MER-A)
