In the evolution of Lockheed-Martin's old reliable workhorse the Atlas
rocket launcher we have the Atlas I, Atlas II, Atlas III and the Atlas
V. But what i'd like to know is why no Atlas IV? Does anyone know why?

The Ares I launch vehicle, and its Orion mega capsule, have no
scientific, technological, physical or financial foundation at all.
NASA's Ares I and Orion are entirely without merit.
