Energiya-Buran15 Mar 2008 09:09 GMT10
The latest issue of IEEE Spectrum has a review of "Energiya-Buran -- The
Soviet Space Shuttle" by Hendricx and Vis.
Anyone here read it? It's pricey ($70), so I'd like a second opinion
before I spend the money.
Saturn V staging footage13 Mar 2008 06:54 GMT32
Everyone has seen the famous footage of a Saturn V first stage and
interstage dropping off, and the third stage firing and pulling away -
from the perspective of the second stage.  I just finished watching
the Mighty Saturn V DVD (except for some of the quarterly reports),

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, but even I'm having a ball over this

Korean Astronaut Shuffle Over "Reading Rules"12 Mar 2008 21:10 GMT2
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- South Korea said Monday a female engineer
would become the country's first person in space by going aboard a
Russian spacecraft, after Moscow rejected Seoul's first choice because
he violated reading rules during training.
Great missions STS-122 & Expedition 1611 Mar 2008 23:39 GMT191
Great mission so far, awesome launch, incredible space walks (great
views), and achieving a great accomplishment in space station assembly
by adding the Columbus module to the structure. It's great to see both
crews together, in the newly added Columbus module during today's
Why did it take so long to reach the moon10 Mar 2008 05:00 GMT16
I was just looking at the Apollo 15 DVD set.  It showed them flying
over their landing site at GMT 96 hours and something.  that's 4 whole
days after launch.  If they were traveling at 25,000 MPH, they should
have made it in about 10 hours.  Did they slow down along the way?  Do

I proposed this same concept with Paula Abdul as the astronaut, but with

Great Martian Ghoul's next meal?08 Mar 2008 23:38 GMT2
Anyone here care to guess as to what will be the Great Martian Ghoul's next meal? He did
feast on Beagle 2, and maybe a Japanese probe as well, but missed out on MRO. Phoenix
is next up to get past him, and once it's on its way, MSL is the next potential meal.
