I was just watching the DVD of Apollo 17. During launch, I heard Gene Cernan tell the other two guys to get ready for staging and to hold on. shortly after, Evans and/or Schmidt was saying how rough the event was.

I knew about von Braun and General Medaris agitating for a Jupiter C launch of a satellite in 1956. Someone was trying to tell me, last week, that von Braun apparently conspired to put a satellite in orbit in 1956! The Jupiter C was being used to do ballistic missile re-entry

Today's reentry went ballistic, putting more g forces on the capsule and its occupants. No explanations from the Russians on why this trajectory was used. I surmise that it is not nominal to use such a trajectory. Standing by for clarifications from Jim Oberg.....
