I'm interested in the concept that was put forward for an Apollo landing on the far side of the moon. Were they planning to deploy a relay satellite for communications or was the proposal to rely only on waiting for the CSM to come into communications with earth for periodic updates ...

Looks like the sojourner clearly did move since the last received transmission, proving it outlived its mothership. Has anyone already worked out how far it moved and how to translate this into a number of days, based on its onboard contingency program?
