OM's whereabouts for the next week or so...13 Jun 2006 04:22 GMT22
...Kids, last Tuesday morning, my ISDN modem caught fire. After 7
years of operation, it smoked at 8am sharp, melting the case and
filling the apartment with the smell of burnt plastic and tantalum.
So, until the replacement comes in sometime next week, I'll be
Udvar-haze Visit, downward trend?13 Jun 2006 03:29 GMT11
Just back from a weeklong visit to VA and its environs, and spent a
fantastic day at the Udvar-Haze (America's Hanger as they are calling
it).  The place is great.  If you have kids there is enough space so
everybody can spread out, and adults can meander and study all they

Gemini Spacecraft Serial Numbers10 Jun 2006 21:59 GMT9
Does anyone have a list of or reference to the serial numbers
(or construction numbers) for the various Gemini spacecraft?
The reference that I have seen, and which appears to have been
widely copied, shows both Gemini 7 and Gemini 12 as S/N 1853.
Marooned10 Jun 2006 02:57 GMT57
I picked up the last copy of the "Marooned" DVD at the Manhattan Beach
Fry's yesterday. A classic space movie from 1969, it is more realistic
than any "Star Trek" flick. Based on a novel by Martin Caidin, a very
popular aerospace novelist of the 60s and 70s.
Apollo Life Support---how did it work09 Jun 2006 18:13 GMT5
How didi the backpacks work to let the guys work for several hours at
a time?  Were they recharged between EVAs or did they take several
extras?
The "jumping salute"08 Jun 2006 14:31 GMT3
One of those conspirace sites listed this as definitive proof that the
photos and video were doctored.  They said there was a loose flap in
the still photo, but not in the video.  If you watch the video from
the Apollo 16 DVD set, you can clearly see the loose flap in the
Help with song project ( need some answers )07 Jun 2006 18:42 GMT1
Hello my name is Darren Hayman, I'm a songwriter here in London,
England and have had some moderate success (releasing 7 albums, radio
play etc.) A few years back I wrote a song about Alan Bean, that
resulted in me speaking to the man himself via telephone.
"blow the hatches" on Gemini07 Jun 2006 13:22 GMT51
I'm reading yet another moon-walker biography. This time it is Rocketman
(Pete Conrad). It's a good read, a better read than First Man. (Perhaps
because Conrad and Armstrong are at opposite ends of the "colorful"
spectrum.)
hypothetical question - moon orbit07 Jun 2006 07:34 GMT28
I have a hypothetical question - what if America's immediate goal in
the 1960s was to circumnavigate the moon or go into orbit around it
rather than  to land on it?  That would eliminate a lot of things such
as rendezvous and EVA.
