Deep Rescue: Will a shuttle float?22 Jun 2006 15:16 GMT252
I watched an advertisement for a movie, Deep Rescue, which looks
so awful I may have to watch it.  The plot: a space shuttle ditches in
the ocean, and promptly sinks; the crew has to get out alive from the
ocean floor.

It's thought to have created a crater around 14 meters in diameter and 3
meters deep.
late goals19 Jun 2006 05:17 GMT3
I've been keeping track of the goals in this WC.
Of the 61 goals scored to the end of ITA/USA last night, 23 of them (38%)
came after 75 minutes, including 5 in stoppage time (91+).
Would that be unusually high? I have no idea.

No, that's his nurse back there....I swear it's his nurse...okay, the
weather in Hong Kong was hot so she unbuttoned her smock.
There's a perfectly good explanation for this....she was due at the

Dan Aykroyd Describes 'Telepathic UFO Encounter' -- with venting Japanese satellite booster in 198614 Jun 2006 19:35 GMT6
I just saw the account of a Dan Aykroyd interview
on CNN a few days ago, about his new UFO video,
that included one of his own UFO experiences -- that
can be shown to be total fantasy because the case
OM's back...sort of.14 Jun 2006 19:33 GMT30
...Well, the reports of my death again were somewhat exaggerated, but
I'm sort of back. I'm still tied up with a ton of website work and a
lot of travel, which has kept my time for ssh'ning to damn near
AbZero. However, last Wednesday I blew out my left ankle big time, and
X-15 self-launch?14 Jun 2006 04:20 GMT146
An idle question: could the X-15, with the XLR-99 engine, fully-fueled
(with or without drop tanks) could have launched itself vertically from
a launch pad?  And if so, how high could it have gone?  A quick google
search did not show anything.  Any pointers will be appreciated.
"Space Race": OK, Bad or Terrible?13 Jun 2006 22:22 GMT21
A lamentable waste of 4 hours, in my opinion.
And I'm not referring to all the condescending commercials depicting BP as
responsible corporate citizens...
The producers paid painfully little attention to fact checking, chock full
