MER rovers - why sooo slow?23 Feb 2006 20:53 GMT19
The MERs are going a centimeter per second or so and won't come very
far. But the Lunokhod rovers covered about 100 km on the Moon. Actually
speed is not that crucial in that type of research but would certainly
expand the reach of each rover. So, why could the Lunokhods go fast

Apollo post-TLI immediate return-to-earth possibilities
I recall that the first crew and MCC actions after lunar touchdown
was to assess LM health, with the option of immediate liftoff and
return to lunar orbit. There was, I believe, a contingency procedure
BBQ Roll question...23 Feb 2006 11:42 GMT9
...Here's one that hit me this evening, and I'm surprised none of us
have ever asked this before: When the CSM stack was put into the
Passive Thermal Roll - or BBQ Roll - was it done clockwise or
counter-clockwise? And was there a preference, and if so, why?

Cronkite: Has He Come Out in Favor of Return to Moon, On to Mars??21 Feb 2006 18:05 GMT11
Re Cronkite and his moon chip gift -- To the
best of public knowledge, has Cronkite made ANY
public supportive statements about VSE? He
came out for the elder Bush call for return to

Seek source of Dan Goldin quote,"I'm White House's man at NASA"
I'm seeking the source, accurate text, and context of
a quotation attributed to Dan Goldin during the Clinton-Gore
years, to the effect that "I'm not NASA's man at the
bountys on space artifacts?18 Feb 2006 01:32 GMT10
does anyone know if there is a market for space artifacts?
say I (somehow) get a private space program going, grab a few dead
satellites and bring them to earth, is there a market for them? or should I
just go to EBay?
Most-delayed shuttle launch?17 Feb 2006 17:42 GMT12
JimO I'm not, but following his example I'll be so bold as to check
with the collective s.s.h.  wisdom before sending an article off...
The Astro payload, first flown on STS-35, was notorious for launch
delays, with a team T-shirt showing 17 planned or attempted launch
Oberg article: Piloting the Lunar Module17 Feb 2006 15:01 GMT27
The piece I wrote last year on a pilot's eye view of flying the LM
has wound up linked from an internet site -- here:

interesting old Oberg 'space sleuthing' story17 Feb 2006 03:27 GMT3
I'm working additional 'old' URLs for
articles of mine, for a major home page
update, and came across another URL of a seminal
historical piece I published 15 years ago (you
Von Braun - Great American?16 Feb 2006 18:40 GMT212
I don't know much about Von Braun except for what I've seen on TV.  I
have some questions about him:
   1.  How much credit does he get for the development of NASA?  Was he the
driving force?  If he was not around back then would NASA have progressed at

What is the name of that planet that telescopes discovered some tome

Moon Hoax people14 Feb 2006 01:35 GMT170
I like this usernet group, I just wish there was more talk of actual
events, plausible events.
I'm sorry if I tend to comment a little too often on Moon Hoax
people, but the mind set just amazes me, there is FAR more Proof that
