NASA PDF - European Space 1962 - Blue Streak diagrams06 Aug 2005 09:38 GMT2
Here's a document from the NASA Marshall Spaceflight Center in 1962.
It reports on early cooperation among European nations in space
exploration. There are some nice diagrams in this document of the Blue
Streak rocket and its engines.
Viking lander SSA06 Aug 2005 07:12 GMT5
I'm modeling a Viking lander at the moment, but it is not clear to me how
the Surface Sampler Assembly boom changes from it's flattended (wound up)
state into it's free (extended) state. I know it has got something to do
with heat.
"Unprecedented" repair in space?06 Aug 2005 05:10 GMT19
Maybe I'm being a pedant, but all these AP stories about the cleaning
of the tile gap fillers sound a bit over-the-top. Lines like this irk
me:
"On Wednesday, Discovery astronaut Stephen Robinson removed two
SLC 1306 Aug 2005 03:18 GMT12
If anyone's interested I heard from an Air Force contact that the tower at
complex 13 will be demolished next Saturday.  Depending on how close I get
to be, if I get any decent pictures I'll post them somewhere.

STS-114 SRB-cams: YEEHAW!!!05 Aug 2005 06:49 GMT47
NASA TV just showed launch-to-splashdown footage from the cameras
mounted in the forward frustrums of both the left and right SRBs, about
14 minutes of footage. This was, IMO, the COOLEST FOOTAGE EVER. Not
least because they both had full *sound*.  Those SRB's really scream
ET Interstellar UFO Park-n-Ride Tarmac of Venus05 Aug 2005 02:49 GMT11
This ET interstellar UFO Park-n-Ride tarmac has been just sitting there
in plain sight, as situated right up next to a fairly substantial
township that seems to have it's fair share of nearby reservoirs,
multiple high-rise structures, somewhat interesting roadbed and/or
CEV "Stick booster" to use SLC 40 launch site?02 Aug 2005 20:40 GMT16
IF NASA finalizes the decision to use a modified Shuttle solid booster (24
ton requirement) for the Crew Exploration Vehicle, or CEV -- instead of a
derivative of the current Atlas V or Delta 4 boosters -- would SLC40 be the
logical launch facility to "retrofit" for such ...

MSNBC - Mercury Gemini Apollo documentary?01 Aug 2005 14:56 GMT6
I caught the last few seconds of what appeared to be a promo for some
space documentary on MSNBC (I think) that was supposed to be about
Mercury, Gemini and Apollo. Anyone know anything about that? MSNBC's
program schedule on their website is totally useless for finding
