Booster for CEV? 11 Aug 2005 16:03 GMT9
What boosters are under consideration for the CEV? Titan or Atlas family, or something that's
shuttle based? I noticed in a Washington Post article one idea is for CEV to be on top of a

Veteran Astronaut Retirement10 Aug 2005 18:40 GMT33
Any day now we will be hearing the public announcement of a veteran
astronaut who has just retired from NASA.  I expect that they are
holding off until the RTF buzz simmers down.  Until such announcement
is made, I'll just say that (by rough calculation) this astronaut faced
25 years ago today: dreams die10 Aug 2005 18:39 GMT45
A sad anniversary:  25 years ago today, on 29 July 1970, all hope of
restarting Saturn V production was finally abandoned.  It had been looking
unlikely for a couple of years, but that was the day when NASA gave up on
it, and -- among other things -- sent out a "stop work" order on ...
Barf and you're grounded!!!10 Aug 2005 18:36 GMT18
Is it true that anyone who got sick in flight during a Gemini or
Apollo mission was grounded permanently? Rusty Schweikart, Frank
Borman, etc.
Re: Shuttle Capable of Independent Flight?10 Aug 2005 15:44 GMT1
A retired Pratt & Whitney engineer told me that during
the conceptual design phase of the space shuttle, there
was consideration of giving it turbojets to allow it
to fly itself back to the Cape.  One design had 4 - 6

CEV transport question09 Aug 2005 01:49 GMT1
So, we have a number of proposals for the NASA CEV request.
The boosters will have to lift more than 20T, based on the last set of CEV
specifications that I have seen.
So, for the lifting body CEV designs - How will NASA transport the CEV from

CEV - working on that now?08 Aug 2005 05:42 GMT3
Since the shuttle is on its way out, even if there are more flights,
how is work going on the CEV hardware? Shouldn't we be developing that
now? Is Lockheed the prime contractor for the new LM?

Question: what is the SAA on the map showing orbital paths? 07 Aug 2005 18:53 GMT23
I've seen this on a orbital chart in the Space Shuttle Operator's Manual and on the map in Mission Control in Houston showing the SAA. The former calls it the South Atlantic Anaomly. What exactly is it? Just curious.
