A "lazy" question on EVA26 Aug 2005 10:30 GMT8
I want to ask a lazy question. I say "lazy" because I could search the
answer by myself, since I know I have read it somewhere, but it is
easier if someone here remembers the answer without having to go
through a lot of books.

MESSENGER Completes Successful Earth Flyby

that propelled it deeper into the inner solar system. Mission operators at the

Mercury Movies?25 Aug 2005 21:39 GMT6
I'm doing research for an article on (fictional) treatment of the
various planets in the mass media; and while I've found plenty of
movies or television shows dealing with Mars or Luna, some with Venus,
several with Jupiter (or its moons), a couple with Saturn, and even one

Do Baikonur Launchings Trigger Aral Sea Sandstorms?
I'm particularly interested in the comment at the end that suggests
a connection between Baikonur launchings and increased sandstorms. My
question -- is this just local folklore, or has there ever been any
Question about Cosmonaut Callsigns25 Aug 2005 18:50 GMT3
I have been wondering whether the Russian commanders have discontinued
the practice of chosing a unique callsign to be used during their
mission.
I haven't seen one mentioned for the last three Soyuz Commanders

Jules Verne ATV question23 Aug 2005 19:00 GMT30
What if any consideration has been give by our friends in Europe to

publication of a manuscript by Jim Oberg that was intended to refute
the claims that the Moon landings were a hoax. NASA said that this

"Darkside" Apollo Play22 Aug 2005 07:04 GMT1
Here's one I hadn't run across before: a modern theater production of a
fictional Apollo 18 mission. The reviews make it sound like good drama, but
thematically another poke in the eye at NASA.
Anyone in southern Cal seen this production?  Reactions?
RE: Saturn V22 Aug 2005 02:27 GMT3
I checked with the Southeast National Archives and they have no
drawings or plans in storage for the Saturn V rocket. Personally, I
think that when you try to build a vehicle that is part airplane and
part spacecraft, it will perform neither role as well as it could if
