Dyna-Soar question 04 Apr 2005 21:58 GMT97

I've been rereading Milt Thompson's "Flying Without Wings", about the
lifting body program at Dryden, and he writes about the waning days of
the X-20 Dyna-Soar program (which he blames mainly on ...

Hi,
Looking for the von Braun quote on the need to monitor contractor quality,
believe it had something to do with a sock.  Anyways, it's around here

Apparently, the author doesn't seem too pleased with the performance of
NASA over the last few years.
Looking for Apollo LRV film clip04 Apr 2005 09:07 GMT5
I think I recall years ago seeing a film/video segment from one of the later
Apollo missions taken by a camera mounted on the rover while it was in
motion. The effect was essentially to give you an idea of what it looked and
felt like to drive the rover, i.e. looking forward with ...

I keep hearing that Betty Grissom campaigned to have the ill-fated AS204
re-designated "Apollo I" after the Fire; how does that explain Gus'
mission patch in:

STS51L Accident Questions03 Apr 2005 01:54 GMT602
As it is known, the left SRB burned through the o-ring at the side facing
the ET causing the accident.  Then I started to wonder.
Would it have been possible for the o-ring to burn through on the other

CM photo ID?03 Apr 2005 01:04 GMT4
Afternoon all.
I vaguely recognise the background in this photograph - I've probably
seen photographs taken in the same museum before. However, I'm fairly
sure it's not the NASM, and the CM isn't Columbia - can anyone verify
Looking for photo: crowd spells "NASA"03 Apr 2005 00:38 GMT3
Somewhere on the Web, in the last few months, I saw an overhead photo

I've had no luck searching GRIN, NIX, and the various centers'
archives with all the keywords I can think of. Does this ring a bell
