Yet Another Skylab Gemini Door Question30 Nov 2004 06:05 GMT2
The Gemini hatch on Skylab: was it new, or a recycled item from a
Gemini spacecraft?
Related: what other equipment onboard Skylab was recycled, flown
equipment from previous missions? I seem to recall something about

I don't know if Pink Floyd has any plans for another album after "The
Division Bell", but the cover art's already been done:

Mars destroyed29 Nov 2004 22:26 GMT15
What are the chances that mars was a blue planet hundreds of thousands  of
years ago with a thriving advanced civilization. But they became so radio
and laser noisey that some aliens from another part of the galaxy came by
and blasted them to oblivion with planet killer weapons.

Not too soon to start considering this, lads!
IMHO, Rusty Barton has it hands down, with his virtually endless list of
where to find the PDFs of the NASA stuff...and something I missed until
I happened to get to the bottom of these pages before clicking on one of

The Depths of Space: The Story of the Pioneer Planetary Probes27 Nov 2004 23:12 GMT1
I just finished this book, thoroughly enjoyed it from cover to cover, and
would recommend it for your Chrisnukkah lists.  Along with some history and
philosophy of these probes, it has a good discussion about the various
interactions between organizations.
Red Dawn. Red Sky25 Nov 2004 17:49 GMT29
After thousands of years of looking at blue skies, are there any anticipated
psychological challenges awaiting Martian astronauts waking up to a red dawn
and looking at red skies all Martian day ?? From pictures taken by the
various Martian landers we get an idea as to what a ...
NASA astronauts at SpaceShip1 flights?25 Nov 2004 02:22 GMT2
I understand that NASA astronaut Scott Horowitz and possibly one other
NASA astronaut were in attendance at the first SpaceShip1 suborbital
flight in June.  Does anyone know who the unidentified other one was?
Did NASA astronauts attend any of the other SS1 flights?

NASA 'Scramjet' Launched on Mach 10 Try
LOS ANGELES (AP) - A tiny unmanned NASA "scramjet" soared above the Pacific
Ocean Tuesday at nearly 10 times the speed of sound, or almost 7,000 mph, in a
successful demonstration of a radical new engine technology

Apollo 12 at 35...23 Nov 2004 01:26 GMT4
...I'm ashamed to say that we Space Historians totally missed this
one, it seems. I'll take the blame for this one if Beady will take the
blame for missing the anniversary of Roy Flemming's flight.

Pre-Apollo 1 Apollo 7 orbital CSM tests22 Nov 2004 19:01 GMT2
I am having a hard time finding any long duration Apollo CSM flights
prior to October 1968. There were 2 short orbital tests on the Saturn
V, but it appears that all Saturn IB flights were sub orbital. I am
surprised that NASA did not schedule a full dress rehearsal of Apollo
