What is the history of choice of location for KSC? I've heard that a
location inland, near Brownsville, Texas was an early candidate location.
Might have been less prone to catastrophic hurricanes (though we got blown
around pretty good there by Andrew).

Fuuture of pads 39 A and 39B27 Sep 2004 15:55 GMT32
I am hoping that at the end of the shuttle program  these pads are opened as
exhibits to the general public. Build a weatherproof shuttle mockup with a ET
and solids less fuel and set up a permanent exhibit we can all visit.
Take the other pad and do more of the same with a mock up ...

Naval LOX usage?27 Sep 2004 08:07 GMT41
It's a bit OT, but someone here must know this sort of thing.
Catching up on another newsgroup, I find a discussion of LN2, and
someone being very enthusiastic about anecdotes for it - they never had

Now we know that the Discoverer project was a cover-up for the Corona
spy satellite program.  Publicly, the satellites were launching mice
and monkeys.  I'm assuming that they actually did launch the animals
(correct me if that is wrong).  Film from the Corona was dropped back

Titan III (and IV) Engine Operation Question26 Sep 2004 14:07 GMT7
I have not been able to find the answer for this by "googling" for it,
probably because I am not asking the question properly.
QUESTION: Are the engines at the base of the core of a Titan III(C or
higher) or Titan IV ignited at liftoff, or does the vehicle liftoff
Genesis: a dumb question25 Sep 2004 20:20 GMT8
The photos of Genesis show it dented and damaged, but mostly intact.
Wouldn't a satellite falling from space without a parachute either burn up
in the atmosphere or get completely pulverized upon impact?
