Light year distance question29 Apr 2005 16:41 GMT7
I've recently read that a distant galaxy 11 billion light years away
has been spotted.
Does this mean that in actuality it was 11 billion light years away 11
billion Years ago or that it is that far away now?
Comparing landing methods27 Apr 2005 02:31 GMT6
The first part of designing a space vehicle probably has to be deciding
its configuration, so I thought I'd share some ramblings and see what
people think.
I say (without proof) that the method of landing is the largest
Orbital simulator alogorithms26 Apr 2005 19:01 GMT15
I'm trying to model orbits with Lunar perturbations in Microsoft Excel
My first step is just trying to get an ordinary ellipse without lunar

Need help with this trajectory20 Apr 2005 23:06 GMT10
Can anyone provide me some help with a trajectory I have found on the
Internet, please. The following link shows a picture of the
trajectory.
What is this about? Is it some kind of space craft?
maximum payload to the moon15 Apr 2005 04:02 GMT5
I dont know a great deal about space and current rocket technology,
but im Learning (in a very amature fashion!), but i have been trying
to find out about the following.

Running multiple HET in parallel?12 Apr 2005 06:03 GMT84
Are there any known issues with running multiple HET
(Hall Effect Thruster) in parallel to get increased
performance? Is it being already used somewhere?
Black-hole powered thruster?12 Apr 2005 01:39 GMT13
The scientist who recently announced that they may have created an
extremely short-lived black hole in the lab got me thinking; is the
following a plausible design for a thruster system?:
Black holes can have charge, so we should be able to suspend a
Center of Galaxy11 Apr 2005 20:52 GMT9
I keep a poster in my room (http://www.jasonlove.com/temp/youhere.jpg) of
the Milky Way. It reminds me to quit being so petty. Unfortunately, I don't
know exactly what I'm looking at. You can see Earth in the cross-hairs, but
what is the big yellow glowing thing in the center? Is ...
Would Dark Matter have Propulsion Uses?11 Apr 2005 04:28 GMT1
Here is a puzzle.  There is a theory of dark matter that says
that dark matter is simply mirror matter.  This is not antimatter
but matter that is reflected with respect to ordinary matter and
only interacts with ordinary matter through gravity, neutrinos
Getting help with building/testing space access engineering11 Apr 2005 00:20 GMT2
Does anyone have any pointers for getting access to people that can
build things?  I'm looking for someone to help me test some engineering
problems - probably a college student would be best.  (Someone with
access to cool college equipment is even better).  I would pay for
Armadillo Aerospace discontinues peroxide work09 Apr 2005 04:26 GMT9
www.armadilloaerospace.com
It looks like they are now engaged in bi-prop work, claiming that
peroxide motors were not sufficiently robust for multi-use. What I
can't figure out is how Beal Aerospace made so much progress with
Liquid Hydrogen Refrigeration05 Apr 2005 12:53 GMT16
For long range space travel with hydrogen reaction mass...
Roughly how much power is required to keep hydrogen liquified per watt
of heat leakage into the tanks?
I've found one value on the 'net suggesting 50 watts of refrigeration
