Just in case anyone is missing it, I've just been out to take a few
shots of the moon, and although it's a full moon, I got some brilliant
views (better with the aperture stop attached).
Saturn is also showing its glory as well, my 6" Dob revealed the ring

the sea I can reach?
Further, If I stand at a 532m mountain, How far can I see?

I have been calculating the solar rotation rate from the population of
halo stars. Halo stars are thought to have no net rotation, so by
finding an average V-velocity one finds the orbital speed of the Sun.

I am interested in getting a telescope mainly looking at the planets &
galaxies. I'm not really interested in astrophotography at the moment
but I guess this may come in the future.
