Our Nebulous Disk Could Extend Further Out Than Thought!02 Apr 2005 08:12 GMT3

"He adds that dusty discs have been seen around other stars and tend to
be big, with diameters of up to 3000 AU. "It's rare to find a compact
disc like the Kuiper Belt," he told New Scientist. "Instead of trying

2005 FN Asteroid02 Apr 2005 05:26 GMT1
This thing passed closer than halfway to the moon on March 19th. How come I
didn't hear anything on the media on this close encounter? Is this a
predictable orbit or did they find out about it after it passed?
Angular separation02 Apr 2005 01:18 GMT2
Does angular separation of stars correspond with the FOV of binoculars?
Orions belt spans 2 degrees and 44 mins, but just fits into the FOV of my
binoculars which are rated at 3.5 degrees.
This info would be useful in helping me to decide which of the bins I shall
Expanding Raisins/Galaxies01 Apr 2005 23:20 GMT87
There is one thing I don't understand about he raisin bread and the "put
the dots on balloons and pretend they are galaxies and blow the balloon up
and watch the dots furthest away move away faster" theory.  Why do the
galaxies further away move away from us faster than the ones ...

That'll be the headline soon enough. I pity his girlfriend
and children, since it's not their fault that Mike Schiavo
is a low-down murdering coward and ACLU-colluding dogchit!
water on mars01 Apr 2005 16:25 GMT4
I should make some first comments with respect to the morning fog
images.

across the valley are directly above the fog and above the fog-free
Lightening on Mars during closest approach?01 Apr 2005 15:09 GMT3
During closest approach of Mars to Earth - 29/8/2003.
I set up an 18 element aerial with 4 sec Integration and
captured results on my chart recorder. Refer webpage:

water on mars01 Apr 2005 09:33 GMT1
You know by imaging the depth-scale (thickness of  a layer to make the
background invisible, i.e. of km). Then, you can estimate the optical
depth (depending on droplet sizes and number densities), then you have
the droplets number densities and an estimate of the amount of water

Sudden Midnight Worry01 Apr 2005 01:23 GMT6
OK, I'm not an astronomer but I do enjoy P. Lawrence's photos (they are the
main reason I lurk here). I do hope that the Selsey Cloud Removal Machine is
his and not Sir Patrick's!

INDEED, TRUTH IS STRANGER than fiction, what with the
notoriously left-wing liberal extremist Jesse Jackson
speaking openly in SUPPORT of Terri Schindler's right
