INDEED, TRUTH IS STRANGER than fiction, what with the

Space is nice.
Earth matters too.
Don't forget simple needs.
Because if you ignore the earth,

GR Passes Double Pulsar Test30 Mar 2005 02:13 GMT1
In a recent paper on testing GR with the 22.8ms double pulsar
J0737-3039 the authors assert that GR is consistent with the
observations to the 0.1% level.  In fact they give the ratio
of the predicted and observed Shapiro delay parameter as:
Measurement Theory in Einstein's General Relativity30 Mar 2005 01:42 GMT1
If you read first sections of Landau & Lifshitz Ch 10 Classical Theory
of Fields one sees that in Newton's 17th Century gravity theory, that
gravity is a force seen in a Galilean inertial frame F.
There is a Newton potential energy V per unit test mass, where the

Wheeler's solution to my EEP question is also below.
One of the first theorems of Newton's 17th century Principia is that a
test particle inside a uniform density hollow spherical mass shell does
not sense this outer shell. Not so when the shell rotates according to

book on the possibility of extraterrestrial life30 Mar 2005 00:38 GMT1
I would like to bring to the attention of the newsgroup the book
'Life in the Universe: Expectations and Constraints' by Dirk
Schulze-Makuch and Louis Irwin. This book considers issues that are
seldom addressed in detail in books on extraterrestrial life, such as

Easter Egg and Gravity29 Mar 2005 22:40 GMT14
Woke up this morning with no deep science thoughts. Was going to make a
fried egg,but always wanted to see if I could balance an egg on its
end(point) I did it(took time) and the surface I used was very smooth
and flat(a mirror) It is still balancing, and will see how long it takes
Creating Nebulous Matter29 Mar 2005 20:51 GMT32
Nebular clouds did not come directly out of the BB. Many billions of
years later I think. Tricky the way the are spewed here and there. The
fact that they begin to collapse inwardly on itself.  Mostly
hydrogen(lightest atom) These atoms are pulled together by the mutual

I have encountered a difficulty, when using it with

Out of Round29 Mar 2005 13:58 GMT25
Best to keep in mind the entire universe is out of round. From the
objects to their orbits the solar system is "out of round" No perfect
circles of spheres(objects) no perfect orbiting bodies.       That 93
million miles away from our sun is just an average distance. It changes
Is This a Good Telescope?29 Mar 2005 11:23 GMT6
I've come across the following telescope on Ebay and it looks like a good deal.
How ever before I bid on it, I'd like experts (on this newsgroup) to look at and give
me their opinion on it.
Is this as good as deal as it sounds?
serious question for book29 Mar 2005 03:10 GMT9
I am writing a book. On many occasions I have read that it is possible to
determine the date from the stars. How does this work? How would you set up
the stars configuration in a software program to give you this date ? Also
could you determine where you were as well?  My characters ...
