I'm slowly getting back into astrophotography...does the remote control
work on the bulb setting or is the hardwire cable needed? Any of these any good?

During the first week of Jun/2008, the WASP team announced two new
exoplanets, namely WASP-10b and WASP-14b. Both of these are
significantly heavier than Jupiter and also much more dense.
PST CaK and Ha basic disk imaging with a Meade EEP - how to29 Aug 2008 22:13 GMT3
This weekend I worked through taking basic solar disk images using a
PST CaK and Ha using the Meade Electronic Eyepiece (MEE) and a fixed
tripod.  The images are not high-end stuff, but provide a how-to guide
for owners of a PST Ha or CaK how want to try their hand at doing

Sample FIT Files on the Web?29 Aug 2008 00:21 GMT5
I need some sample FIT files of astro images to test some software. I
haven't found anything via Google. Are there some web libraries that contain
them, particularly the Messier objects and taken with scopes of a modest
size, 6-16"?
FINALLY!  VANGUARD I !28 Aug 2008 19:49 GMT29
I've been trying to catch sight of this little chunk of history ever
since I found out it was still up there...  My quest led me to scavenger
hunt for everything still in orbit from the 1950's, and resulted in a
number of rather dry posts in this group.  My earliest attempt I can
What to Get for My Dobsonian28 Aug 2008 16:01 GMT13
I received a gift of an Orion 8" Dobsonian last week (my first
telescope) which came with a finder scope, a 9mm and a 25mm eyepiece, a
moon filter and a glare filter. Last night in the 25mm I was able to
place almost the entire double cluster (NGC869?) and then Andromeda and
Question regarding deep field imaging26 Aug 2008 16:35 GMT12
All,
Out of curiosity I am trying to determine how deep I can actually image
from my backyard observatory. Details as to designated star magnitudes
below Mag 16 seem to be hard to come by. Are there any online sources

Description of Screw for AstroScan Sight24 Aug 2008 16:56 GMT1
We just bought an astroscan it doesn't seem to have included a screw for the
sight. I'd like to try it out tonight, with the sight. Does anyone have a
picture of it or a description?
Perhaps Edmund will get back to me tomorrow.
a really dumb question about binoculars24 Aug 2008 15:13 GMT5
I just bought a pair of Nikon 8x42 ATB Monarch which is sold as
waterproof and fog-proof.  I live in Florida where the humidity can be
amazing and when I exit my car or house, the binos being cooler they
do fog up badly but, as far as I can tell, only on the outside.
