Roughly how long have astronomers been able to calculate the distance between the earth and the moon with a reasonable degree of accuracy? I have briefly rooted around the internet for an answer, but have not been able find one. It's been a long time since I took physics.

So, I often see posts and info on red lights and so on, but I don't see too much about dealing with bugs and critters. Do you put out smoke pots or incense? Maybe one of those UV bug zappers, (although powering high voltage could be problematic.)

A few hours ago a member of Rod Mollise's sct-user Yahoo group posted some interesting pictures of an "unknown" in the vicinity of Altair. It's sort of reminiscent of a comet, but the tail's splay is unusual.
