| Messier Marathon spoilers? | 01 May 2006 00:06 GMT | 6 |
What is your favorite object that Messier missed that would have made the Marathon impossible (from circa 40° N)? In other words, things roughly between M30 and M74 that are fairly easy to see. And why did he miss it?

| earthshine and occulation | 30 Apr 2006 23:40 GMT | 1 |
at 10pm today (april 30), I setup my william optics Z80 in my backyard, to photograph earthshine, it was cloudy, but the moon was visible at that time. The Z80 delivered beautiful images, in fact I saw a star disappear behind the moon at 10.09pm CET (my location is Utrecht, the ...

| 10" GEM reflector advice, anyone? | 30 Apr 2006 03:38 GMT | 6 |
OK, so I started with a Celestron 90eq Firstscope and then quickly added an Orion XT8i. Both actually great in their own way (that 90eq with the little 9VDC drive holds a planet for I don't know how long in the couple of spots where I have polar alignment dialed in).

| RTMC = No Way | 30 Apr 2006 00:13 GMT | 49 |
As the last time I was up there was 2001 and that's when a fellow user gave me a ride there, I had planned on trying to make it this year, I had planned on living on as little as I could, putting most of the money into gas and the entry fee. This was when gas was still down ...

| ETX 90 | 29 Apr 2006 23:13 GMT | 9 |
I'm on the way to buy a cheap used Meade ETX 90. One that I found appears it's an old model one, bought in '99, and has no autostar #497. Only the manual 4 ways, 4 speeds controller.

| Where can I get one? | 29 Apr 2006 17:58 GMT | 1 |
I need a 1.25" eyepiece adapter for an older Meade. It's plastic and screws on the focuser. I bought one a few years ago from an eBay store, but now I can't find it any more. Anybody know where I can get one?

| Mars cartography software | 29 Apr 2006 17:10 GMT | 3 |
What I am looking for is a neat software that would give me a little more than a static Mars map would. I prefer it to be downloadable rather than Java and to show the landing sites of all spacecraft. Some zoomability or search features would also be nice. I am quite sure

Amazing what flights the truly deranged imagination can take when it doesn't want to face the fact there are only a couple TRUE solutions to possible space travel.
