Comet Pojmanski (C/2006 A1) Obs Rep 41N Lat28 Feb 2006 21:24 GMT8
In December 2004, observers were treated to the flyby of C/2004 Q2
(Comet Machholz), a tailess maximum mag. v4.1, comet with a high
inclination (~34 degs).
Mag v5.1 Comet C/2006 A1 (Comet Pomjanski) is (for northern hemisphere
What magnification do I want for deep sky?28 Feb 2006 20:25 GMT13
I have an 8" f/6 dob.  I presently have a 40mm eyepiece for wide field
observing giving me 1.6 deg TFOV, 30X mag, and 6.7mm exit pupil.
Unfortunately, I live in seriously light-polluted suburbs, so the sky
is just too bright (mag 4 on a good night).  Often, I can't even see
Foster Freeze owner Does Rain Dance!28 Feb 2006 16:28 GMT14
It looks like all this week will be "The Pits", it's raining out here right
now. I just hope the plastic sheeting I put on the roof slows down the
weaking of the trailer roof that the owner calls an "Act of God" I call it
to laze to work.

I'd like to find a good northern-exposure-to- the-horizon site near
Portland, Oregon
where there is little or no city light pollution.  Anyone willing to help?

Economy Binoviewers: Which Ones?27 Feb 2006 22:53 GMT13
I'm intrigued by binoviewers, though not to the point of spending more
on them than I did on the scope I'll use them with. In the economy class
choices seem to be:

What small telescope gives widest Field of View?27 Feb 2006 12:34 GMT12
I'm looking for a telescope that can be easily carried (scope and
tripod/base) and give the widest actual field of view with a 1.25 or 2
inch eyepiece.  I want a quality scope that will give "perfect"
resolution at a magnification of 30x to 40x but 100x is not important
Always a tough choice in this forum27 Feb 2006 06:50 GMT27
Do you read the nice stuff, the enlightening stuff, or does the cruelty
offered by others turn you off?
I'll admit that I don't check this board very often, and it is because
of the level of rancor among some of you.
Comet Pojmanski (C2006 A1)27 Feb 2006 02:49 GMT4
I'm trying to find Comet Pojmanski (C2006 A1)... My Starry Night Enthusiast
(SN) show the best time to view is around 5:40 AM in Denver (actually just
west of Denver). SN shows this comet as a 6.53 Mag. Is this something I
should expect to see with an ETX 125 or am I expecting ...
