9.25" SCT + Losmandy G11 question....30 Apr 2004 21:18 GMT2
Not that it's more than in the dream stage yet (with school and living expenses
to take care of currently), barring some unforseen money dropping down from the
heavens, but I've thought that eventually I might get a Losmandy G11 mount to
put my 9.25" SCT on.  It's currently (and ...

High-end APO reviews are pointless30 Apr 2004 19:11 GMT19
All they basically say is that the optics
and mechanics are almost perfect.
Well, duh. What else would you expect
for how much they cost? The so-called
Best lunar telescope?30 Apr 2004 18:12 GMT19
I know that looking at the moon is not very exciting for most armatures, but
I've always been interested in lunar observing more than anything else.
I have owned an excellent Celestron C5+ for many years and have enjoyed
great results with it.  However, my passion for lunar ...

Chromatic aberration30 Apr 2004 06:34 GMT16
So I have these eyepieces that are presumably good quality
(they cost me approx. 100 US$).  I think the brand is TeleVue,
but I'm not sure (I don't see it anywhere on the eyepiece;
the logo seems live a V enclosed in a full circle that

Finally Saw the Red Spot30 Apr 2004 02:49 GMT10
No, I have seen it before, but not this Jupiter observing season.  Strange
since I've been more active in my planet observing than any previous year,
going back decades.  This is thanks to webcams and their magical properties!
But it had to be bad luck, since I thought on the ...
Objects for astronomy evening30 Apr 2004 02:10 GMT3
Good evening everyone, I have moved to the southern hemisphere at 22°S,

Can anyone suggest 4 or 5 decent objects to observe in the night sky here? I
already know the most obvious ones such as the Jewel Box, and Omega du

For years I've only owned mew and modern equipment. Finances and
interests are now resulting in purchases of used and vintage equipment,
some of which may need some work, though I'm not real comfortable in
this area and not a natural-tinkerer.
