No. But I think you need to hang around for a while before opening your
mouth, which is obviously larger than your brain.

And the bickering starts all over again....

Ah, so you're not a troll but just an a.shole? Gotcha.
Ironically it was your comments came off as (mouth > brain) initially,
or I'd not have bothered with a reply.
But pleased to make your acquaintance all the same.

No, I just don't like people who make assumptions based on one post.

Nice to meet you too. ;-)

Its so nice to see intelligent civil discussion isn't it?
I'm sure that you are aware that a very good photo of the item is on the
ground now and its been positively identified.
I thin the main worry left is what else might have dropped off that nobody
saw, but you can play that game all day, and nobody would ever go anywhere.

Brian, if you played that game, you'd be called a troll. ;-)

Hard to tell with Alan sometimes. But yeah, if that were the only post
I'd seen from him, I'd plonk him too.
Comparing the high-resolution in-flight photos with photos of the part
in question, there's little doubt in my mind that NASA ID'ed it
correctly as a rudder speed brake spring seal clip. These clips provide
a thermal seal for the RSB for ascent plume heating. They are not
required for entry. The clip probably came loose during the aerosurface
drive portion of FCS checkout. Orbiters have returned with missing clips
without issue, but this is the first time I'm aware that one has been
caught "in the act" of floating away.

Just beat me and a much better explanation than I could offer!
Thanks Jorge :-)

Thanks Jorge. Yeah, they've since been discounting this clip as any
concern, which makes sense. I'm sure we'll get more detail in this
afternoon's press conferences, but it does seem like one of those
things that's normal but just not been observed in the act
previously.
