Where were you when he lost his job?  Search Google Groups for "kim keller
fired" and you'll find this:

There was also a lot more paranoia around at that time of course. I'm sure
more is now being revealed officially than he ever put on his site. Sad, but
there are always those with knee jerk reactions and they would lose face if
they changed their minds.
Its always good practice to ask before doing anything that  affects others
in the field of publicity I found.

True.  NASA seems to be releasing a lot more information these days than
they used to.  Space news sites also exist which provides a bit of anonymity
to the information they provide.  Kim was releasing similar information on
public forums using his own name, so he was an easy target for this
company's wrath.

Remember it was the private company that fired him not NASA

That's why I said "he was an easy target for this company's wrath".  Still,
NASA seems to release a lot of information these days that is similar to
what Kim used to release (as an employee of a government contractor).

Kim's posted occasionally since leaving the pad rat nest, but I think
the selection of Ares may have slowed him down.

...Yes he did. However, when USA took over Shuttle launch prep ops, he
got fired when he inadvertently got caught up in an investigation on
another employee over what was rumored to be a kiddie porn sting. Kim
wasn't involved, but his info postings were discovered and declared
"proprietary" by USA. Just to be total cocksuckers, USA fired Kim, and
most of us old sci.space.* regulars have desired to see everyone in
the USA upper management responsible suffer some sort of painful,
hideous demise. Kim's info wasn't "proprietary" in the least, as it
was all publically accessable if you knew where to look. Kim was
simply making it easier for us to use it a la Jenkins. What we should
have done when that happened was to write our respective Congressional
reps with demands that USA C&D this sort of crap and rehire Kim on 1st
Amendment grounds.

One day, those responsible will pay. And we'll all be there to laugh
at them, with Kim pressing the button on the "laughter" sign.

Well, I'm not sure I'm doing "fine"....more like "okay".

Then again, I do have a cube with a view of the meat servos, eh Jim?

Nah, wasn't porn. A coworker and her boyfriend were using company computer
assets to run a personal business. They tracked her computer usage, which
took them to her postings on space.com forums, which in turn led to their
discovering my posts on the website.

Glad you enjoyed it (while it lasted).

I'm doing fine (according to Jim!) working in NASA's Launch Services
Program. Sorry I've been absent from sci.space, but I kind of lost my
interest in posting.

have you thought of suing or some group suining to get your old job
back? your job might not exist by the time a lawsuit had gone thru the
court but think of the back pay:)
Jacques van Oene - 05 Jan 2008 18:38 GMT
